This edition looks at the exemplary topic of knowledge transfer and dealing with authority in early modern Dutch literature. It offers a wide view of possible fields of how knowledge changed in colonial literature; of the creation of scientific texts, literary networks and both theological and political documents. The authors research the use of classical and/or contemporary sources, thereby researching the creation, or adaptation of auctoritas and the ramifications of this development on the early modern scientific debate. Here, the topical focuses are on the concepts of play, miracle, conversion and imitation.
