Dieser Band, der die Publikationsreihe zu den österreichischen Ausgrabungen in der antiken Stadt von Aigeira in Achaia eröffnet, legt die prähistorischen sowie alle mykenischen Funde – mit Ausnahme der mykenischen Keramik – von der höchsten Erhebung des Siedlungsgebietes, der sogenannten Akropolis, vor. Endneolithische, früh- und mittelhelladische Keramik und Kleinfunde sind die ältesten Zeugnisse für eine Besiedlung des Plateaus. Aus der postpalatialen mykenischen Siedlungsphase Späthelladisch IIIC werden die Kleinfunde, die archäozoologischen und archäobotanischen Hinterlassenschaften sowie die 14C-Datierung vorgestellt. Diese lassen den Charakter der Siedlung und ihre Stellung innerhalb des mykenischen Griechenland näher definieren. … This volume, the first in a series of publications on the Austrian excavations of ancient Aigeira in Achaia, presents all prehistoric and Mycenaean findings (with the exception of the Mycenaean pottery) from the highest point of the settlement, the so-called acropolis. Pottery and small finds from the Final Neolithic and the Early and Middle Helladic periods provide the oldest evidence of human settlement. The publication presents the carbon-14 dating, small finds, and the archaeo-zoological and archaeo-botanical remains of the post-palatial Mycenaean settlement phase of Late Helladic IIIC. They help to define the character as well as the status of this settlement within Mycenaean Greece.
